Water management for rural development

         Water management for rural development is offered by:

-          Wageningen University (Netherlands) for the M1
-          Montpellier SupAgro (France) for theM2
Training objectives:
Graduates from this particular track should be able to:
-          Scientifically analyse physical, technical and socio-economic aspects of land and water management;
-          Develop a comparative insight in different land use and land management situations;
-          Develop an academic and interdisciplinary attitude;
-          Work at different scales (field, farm, watershed and region), with different actors;
-          Relate irrigated production to the other sectors of the rural livelihood;
-          Critically assess irrigated systems in order to identify limiting factors and bottlenecks;
-          Evaluate (technical, economic, social) consequences of the possible solutions for all the people concerned;
-          Conceptualise and implement global development policies / projects in situations where irrigation is key;
-          Monitor and evaluate irrigation development projects.

For the M2 in Montpellier, students will follow the Montpellier's specialisation SAT (admin/files/sat-presentation-generale-&-objectifs_en.docxadmin/files/sat-ue-par-parcours-et-ects_enx.pdf). Two options allow either to concentrate : 
    - on systemic approaches (more environmental and technical issues) : RESAD (admin/files/parcours-resad-complet_enx.pdfadmin/files/parcours-resad-resume_en.pdf ) and
    - or on policy questions (land, services and chains organisation) : MOQUAS (admin/files/parcours-moquas-complet-1_enx.pdf; admin/files/parcours-moquas-resume_en.pdf).
Students will have to choose between RESAD and MOQUAS.
