Food chains and and sustainable development in agriculture

There are 2training tracks to specialise on food chains development. Both start from an M1 in Cork, while the M2 is offered either at Copenhagen or Montpellier.
 
The M1 in Copenhagen is oriented along the economy of the food sector, while in Montpellier the training objectives focus more on the whole commodity chain starting from the farm level.
 
 
Training delivered at:
-          University College Cork (Ireland) for the M1 (Teaching in English)
-          Montpellier SupAgro (France) for the M2 (Teaching in French).
 
Training objectives:
 
Macro economic stability is a necessary, but not sufficient, condition for growth and poverty alleviation. The main features of the first year at Cork will enable students to a better understanding of the rural development theories, trends in rural development policy at EU, national and local levels among others.
 
The targeted skills of the second year at Montpellier SupAgro are to respond to the challenges raised by agriculture and rural development in the current international context and to be able to design practical and concrete options for agricultural development and resource management in the Mediterranean and tropical conditions.

For the M2 in Montpellier, students will follow a specialisation called SAT (admin/files/sat-presentation-generale-&-objectifs_en.docxadmin/files/sat-ue-par-parcours-et-ects_enx.pdf).
 
This specialisation offers 2 separate majors :
 
 
Students will have to choose between RESAD and MOQUAS.
 
 
Training delivered at:
-          University College Cork (Ireland) for the M1 (Teaching in English)
-          University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Life Sciences (Denmark) for the M2 (Teaching in English)
 
Training objectives: To equip the students with concepts and understanding of food and nutrition security in developping countries and to provide students with the theoretical background for undertaking appropriate actions.
